this is why i first stopped to talk to him:
i found out that when he first started sand sculpting, he made $70 on his very first day at venice beach back in '86. these days, he makes about $300-400/day. (it's probably because of the topless irregularly breasted nature of this mermaid. do you think her sunglasses stay on when she's swimming around?)

That... is awesome. Thinking outside the box and enjoying what he does. Good on him! If only more of us lived a little more and took some risks we too could be happily pottering along enjoying our "job" rather than slaving away "working for the man"
