Fire Alarm

It was gorgeous day in the city yesterday. The sunset was striking...too bad I couldn't catch a picture of it. I was in a rush to avoid as much rush hour traffic as possible - just like everyone else.

The picture was taken at Fort Mason in San Francisco yesterday. Functional and beautiful; the color is brilliant! I love the instructions -- it feels so calm, considering if there really was a fire, I'd be yanking on the thing over and over.

Sage

I became an aunt for the first time this summer. My niece cracks me up with her laughter and cute poses like this one. I have never known a love like this before. (Is that a line in a song?)

She definitely makes me tingle inside.

A Simple Walk

I've had my eye on this tree for the last week. I've been watching it lose it's leaves everyday with each gust of wind. I even stood under it and shook it so that I could have leaves fall all over me, thinking it would be a great thrill, but the trunk was much harder to move than I thought it would be. I didn't achieve the desired outcome I was hoping for.

The second picture is of a building around the corner from the office. I've seen these lights strung up that way every time I've walked by. I finally had my camera and had time to walk over there and take a few shots through the window before I headed to the city.

On a totally different note, you know what I was inspired by today? Perusing Dooce, Heather Armstrong's blog. She writes with sass that tickles me. But, what really captivates me are her pictures. She's extremely talented, not just with a camera but also in design. I found Dooce through Karen Cheng's blog Snippets of Life.

I have to say that Karen's blog inspired me to start my own blog where I can express myself through pictures I've taken, things I've seen, world causes, agents of change, etc. Now I just need to learn how to do all those other cool things versus using a blogger template -- that feels so primitive. haha

Elf-ed

For those of you who sit in front of your computer watching really cool dance videos on YouTube, you will definitely be inspired by this video of an elf. I like to think it's a cross between sexy, chic, and straight cool.

made by a co-worker. i am really not that vain.

Chimay With Me

Since 1862 the Cistercian Trappist monks of Chimay have been developing the production of Trappist beers, and now I get to enjoy this beer whenever I want. My friend Trader Joe sells it at his store.

Last night, my roommate and I stayed up late drinking Chimay, talking about all sorts of fun things, and being a lil crazy. We finally hit the sack at 1am.

Good beer = good source of inspiration. Cheers!

BOSS

no, not my boss at work.
BOSS -- Boulder Outdoor Survival School (and that's boulder, utah - not colorado). An old colleague and friend told me about her experience at BOSS' 28-day field course, summer of 2006. I remember being moved to tears when she described the intimate connection she had with her teammates and to a sheep that they would take the life of that night. That's right -- slaughter. I was fascinated and thrilled as I lived vicariously through her stories. It was how she felt transformed in who she thought she was, yet affirmed in what she knew to be true, and how much she was able to connect with herself, nature, and to the creator, that captured me. I fell in love with a program/an experience/an agent of change and thought..."i'm going to go summer 2008."
And now, I have that option. To spend 28 days in the wilderness of boulder, roaming
around, hiking 15-30miles/day, foraging for food, feeling deprived, getting to know people that have the same mission, letting my hairs grow longer than i like, ... the list is long. No modern technologies - just straight life in nature, making it as real as it can get.

tempted.
