a couple things here:
drink beer at dusk, even if it's winter and very very cold.
bring candles when you go camping.
be picky about the sticks you collect. they have to be perfect! you never know when you end up in a magicians' wand fight.

the amazing race | the submission
one of my goals this year was to apply for the amazing race. hahahahaahah. (that was a genuine laugh, in case you were wondering if it was real.) i'm laughing because this goal is pretty stankin' random, and i don't think i would've thought of it if i didn't have some special people in my life i could imagine doing it with. i'm feeling like a lucky girl right now.

when i mentioned it to my boss richard earlier this year, we both realized quickly that we should apply together. well, the deadline for the application sprung up on us two days before it was due (july 15), so we scrambled to put something together. for a moment, i was worried that we wouldn't be able to meet up to make a video because richard was in montana, but we coordinated meeting up at sfo on deadline day (without a panda suit, sorry).
so here's everything we submitted for season 20 of the amazing race: (my photo, his photo, our photo, a 70 word bio, and a 3-minute video)

team bio: Richard is Liz's boss. They’re a dynamic duo defined by good communication, brilliant brainstorming, and serious fun. A once polite, professional relationship has grown into authentic friendship. Still, Richard gets micromanagy under stress, and Liz is queen of at-the-deadline delivery. They’re sometimes prone to "magical thinking" and are working on being more practical. They share a passion for travel, adventure, and courageous experimentation. They try, fail, and get back up!

main coon huh?
andychon suggested "main coon" as a comment to my last post.
i immediately thought, "cancun? is he suggesting i go to cancun?"
um, yeah.
so, i googled it and this is what i found on the pinetar rag.

i'm not sure if i should be inspired or freaked out!
but gosh, seeing that human-sized cat makes me just want to wrestle with it like a bear. it has nothing on me! rar!
the weirdest part is that there were 103 comments after this post. maybe now that i borrowed a picture from this lady, i'll get .. 103 minus 100 comments or something like that.

NO laptops allowed
...said Nat in an email with Tahoe details.
Nat is. my roommate
Tahoe is. my weekend destination
"well fine then, i'm dropping my comp off at apple this morning anyway."
i'm going on a mini vacation starting this afternoon.
grill. jacuzz. sleep in. be quiet. play board games. lol.
hike. bike. and sit in an intertube as i float down a river.
RELAX. i've been stressed recently and though i'm able to still find inspiration, i find that it hasn't come as easily. :( hopefully this weekend will bring some clarity and simplicity back.
eat a juicy white peach. it will make you smile.

rubberbandovation
She had to be hurting. Band-aids around her toes, and rubber bands holding her shoes in place? She was definitely very innovative in her approach to fix her cheap shoes. I give her 8 out of 10 stars for innovation!

passed out
after catching up on america's best dance crew last night, i completely passed out.
i mean, i didn't even move once.
door wide open.
woke up this morning confused.
hence, no post. sorry to disappoint, but i've been sleepy all week and it was about time i caught up. i have lots to share though, so stay tuned.
[live a lil]
i want you to do something this weekend, that you've never done before. i hope that it makes you squeal, laugh out loud, giggle, get butterflies in your stomach, make your heart melt, fall over, or something else that you don't expect. do it. do it. do it....
then tell me about it!

random hoo-has
This weekend was weird, spontaneous, isolating, and highly productive.
[WEIRD]
Imagine this:
Asian lady in her 50s.
Dark blue one piece collared, button down dress with a thin matching belt.
The dress had small white flowers all over it.
Large, wide-brimmed off-white hat.
Bright red wheel barrel
Cute medium sized cream colored dog, lying still on it's side.
Half the body covered with a blanket as if it had gotten tucked into bed.
me: [I pull out my ipod out of my ears...] Oh, is that your dog? *smile*
the lady: Oh.
me: Is it dead?
the lady: Yeah. [Walks away quickly rolling the wheel barrel in front of her].
me: [I kept running, feeling weird that at 1pm on a suburban Friday afternoon, I had such a random encounter].
so weird...
[SPONTANEOUS]
Rode my bike to Nyam's work on Friday and convinced her to leave work early so that we could get frozen yogurt at Fraiche Yogurt. Her colleague Matt came too and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the company and the frozen goodies.
[ISOLATING]
Spent almost the entire day by myself in my room. Just felt like being alone.
[HIGHLY PRODUCTIVE]
Organize Organize Organize.... packed away books, organized thousands of pictures, edited photos from a recent wedding shoot, installed e-socket plates, reorganized a new refrigerator, and managed to download 4 bad songs out of 5 -- all in one day.

8am deadline
I get the feeing that for many people - let me rephrase - mainly women (and some men) that get into work around 8/8:30am, grab a cup of coffee and sit down at their desks -- getting updated with their favorite blogs for the first 15-20 minutes or so before they actually start their work day is a daily ritual. There's a research study on this behavior that I don't know about that confirms my statement as the truth. It makes sense, reading blogs is like reading world news: it's just that important. Especially when it's content that's featured here, or here, or here.
Um, yeah. That said, sorry to all of you that thought I delivered "Fresh Everyday." I lied. Yesterday, I was an anxious mess trying to get to the airport on time because I was sure I'd miss my one-hour delayed flight to LA. (Thanks Southwest); I went dancing at Lindygroove and had a guy reject me for a dance (Who in their right mind would-o nevermind); and then fell asleep immediately afterward (well, that is...I fell asleep immediately after two attempts at writing an entry that I could post last night so that you all would be entertained this morning with a pretty new picture and some scribble that maybe makes you snicker a "heh").
I'm spending the weekend in LA, so I should have some good jankity jank janks to work with.
